How we got this number

Toyota's 800/month figure was the planned rate. Yotatech reports actual was closer to 200/month with <10,000 total. CustomTacos forum cites Toyota stating ~2,000 sold by March 2003. After 2002 the S-Runner was build-to-order. We use the midpoint of the 2,200–10,000 band.

Toyota stated: ~800/month × 48 months ≈ 38,400 (planned)

Lore — unverified, folklore, or disputed
  • unverifiedToyota originally planned a 50/50 split of Black Sand Pearl and Radiant Red. By 2003, black outsold red significantly.Repeated across enthusiast forums; no Toyota source.
  • unverifiedS-Runners with the Stepside bed are rarer than long bed versions — community estimate ~30% were Stepsides.
  • folkloreSome dealers tried to add aftermarket superchargers to S-Runners. A stock S-Runner is worth more than a modified one today.
